Dobbie again...

Following the rules of english the double b should make it Dob-e but as with so many names it is how the individual pronounces it, after all it is their name, to say I'm not going to pronounce it the way you do is disrespectful IMHO.
Agreed.

No-one ever pronounced Noone as Nooney did they?

Gus Poyet's surname is pronounced Poy-et, yet we sing Poy-ay.
Stephen Dobbie's surname is pronounced Doh-bee, yet most people say Dob-ee

It rhymes with Adobe :jester:

Gus Poyet's name is pronounced Pourgette with a gutteral g (rhymes with courgette), as said by the man himself on Sky Sports. When out in Spain on the pre-season tour, we heard the Spanish tannoy announcer say it correctly at the Cordoba game.

See the post above yours.

As with many foreign names, it's been Anglicised over the years. I don't think Gus expects anyone to start suddenly using the Spanish version but the hard 't' is how the man himself says it should be pronounced.

Looking forward to seeing Dobbie play. 19 minutes the other night was meaningless as the game was already over. Think he'll be brilliant when he gets proper game time.
