My LOD defines Gnosticism as early Christian heretic claims of knowledge concerning spiritual mysteries.

The basic idea of gnosticism was that humans had divine souls. Who were now trapped in a material world. The only way to free oneself was through special Knowledge. The Material world was the creation of satan as it was imperfect. A true and loving God would never create a world where suffering existed
