Reading the Sky sports article on this it says Middlesborough amongst othe clubs have had a 5 million bid accepted. I'll be surprised if they can convince him to drop down to the Championship. I suspect there's some games going on here. The prem teams coming in for him has turned his head. He wants to go, the club keep turning them down. He asks to leave for personal reasons (the cynic in me reckons it's the money he's been told he'd be offered at sunderland). The club say "You want to go back to the north east "for personal reasons" well, middlsebrough have made and offer for you, go make a deal with them... calling his "bluff".
