[Albion] Dan Burn to Saudi FC

But effective, low maintenance, unglamorous players are exactly what they need ... whether their fans see it or not.

I'd be gutted if Burn went to them.

All Newcastle want right now, are effective, experienced, short term signings, who are capable of digging the club out of a hole, and preserving their Premier League status.

The bigger name, more glamourous players come in August, when that objective has been realised, (presuming that it has of course).

I would imagine BDB would rather stay here with another contract, which on current form would be deserved.
If he went to Saudi Utd, he would be a stop gap to keep them up this season, then next season they will spend loads to get big stars on obscene wages and he would be a back up player to the squad.
Stay put Dan, you know it makes sense.

"Hey Dan, how about a four-year-deal on twice the money?"

"Wahey! Where do I sign like?"

Holding out for more money no doubt but wouldn`t be surprised if it happened.
Does anyone else really think Newcastle will go down?

For me the other three are nailed on, Newcastle`s win at Leeds on Saturday was massive for them.

Not so sure. He’ll probably double his salary signing for the club he supports. I’m not sure many footballers would turn down that opportunity?

Indeed. He'd be mental to turn it down.

30 years old (almost) - an offer to double your salary, on a long term deal, at the club you grew up supporting, is the stuff of absolute DREAMS.

If he’s anything like the few Newcastle fans I know he won’t give a toss who owns the club either

Exactly... there are laws and stuff. If some company in rural Kazakhstan offers the company you work for £500 to recruit you and your company says yes, it doesnt mean you have to move to rural Kazakhstan.

But it's not quite the same. I wouldn't sign a contract saying that I'd move to Kazakhstan if a fee was met. .. although it's the sort of thing I'd have jumped at when I was young without a family :lolol:

he is more valuable to the team than duffy as we started with a back 3, we could change formation during the game and play him at lb and switch 2 a back 4 and push cuc up into midfield duffy can only play 1 position

Should jump at chance at £10m plus. He is 29 and long term will not start ahead of Dunk and Webster. We are safe now so build up coffers for a summer spend

His transformation under GP is as good as Adam El Abd under Gus.

Is smug Eddie as good a coach as GP?

No brainier for me, stay here and maintain a level maybe get even better with a manager who has proved how good he is for you

Agree. Not to mention he has been an integral part of our recent upturn in form. Whilst I recognise every player has his price I cannot see Bloom being remotely interested in helping Newcastle improve at our expense.

I'd also remember that Newcastle are strongly linked to about 8 central defenders, they probably want to sign 2 of them in total. I'm not sure where Burn is on this pecking order, but i'll guess below Tarkowski for one.

I reckon they're putting the feelers out, or putting in low bids to test the waters, turn heads and destabilise rival clubs.

The fact (if it is one) that they've bid, does not mean they will up their price to something that they know will tempt us to sell. This is far from a done deal.

Dan, if you're reading this. We want you to stay

Was at the Chelsea game and Burn was unbelievable, his positioning and tracking of Lukaku was perfect. Webster didn't have his finest game but Burn was so good it didn't matter, I suspect this bid rejection is Potter influenced based on recent form and the fact that 2 CB injuries (literally just happened and they might not be full fitness) would be a disaster if Burn wasn't here. I guess every player has their price though so if they come back with more money, he will have to go.
