I prefer vegemite, and with a dribble of honey, baby that sounds good.

However, in the morning when I am in a rush it is either marmite or peanut butter.

A slightly crunchy bottom and a slab of butter PLACED (not spread) on top immediately. Do not add anything else or cut in half.

YES! The placing of butter, not spreading, is absolutely essential.
Although a crunchy top rather than bottom is better. If the bottom is overdone you end up burning those little flared bits on the edges.

This is what life is truly worth living for....two piping hot crumpets with melted butter, one with crunchy peanut butter and the other with chocolate spread. The two contrasting tastes of sweet and savoury try compliment each other! Very Strongly Recommended!

A very good point. A slight, but CRUCIAL difference.

A layer of tomato puree, with a cooked slice of bacon and melted cheese on top.
Marmite and melted cheese.
It's the way to go.

quick way to a heart attack with a massive salt overload,i gave up eating crumpets(overcooked.butter nothing else but they had to be hard as nails) when i checked the salt content.

3(an average serving)contain 60 %of a man's RDA of salt
same number for a woman is near 100%
