Jam IS wrong, they are a savoury snack to be enjoyed with real butter, and marmite. I also like mine just a little bit over toasted for a crunchy effect.
The king of snacks, also good paired with a Batchelors cream of veg cup-a-soup.

A slightly crunchy bottom and a slab of butter PLACED (not spread) on top immediately. Do not add anything else or cut in half.

A layer of tomato puree, with a cooked slice of bacon and melted cheese on top.
Marmite and melted cheese.
It's the way to go.
