Has been said a thousand times by a thousand posters.... they do not have the numbers to finanacialy survive in the higher leagues.

It will all end in tears and probably sooner rather than later..

No promotion and it's Tit's up as I understand it. Do or die.

The local whisper is its mainly drug money, maybe they could give away a ticket with a bag of brown to synaesthise their business.

They have sold their best players just to make ends meet . They have no history and no fan base .

They've just sold a player they bought in August for £125k for a fee of£1.1m plus addons. I reckon virtually any club in that division and a good few in the division above would have accepted that deal.

The owner Bruce Winfield died last year. His wife is continuing to bankroll the club. He made his money in a marketing company and was a fan of the club for over 50 years. Cannot see the money drying up if they are not as successful.

seems a strange set-up watching from a distance at least. One minute they are being run by a couple of hoolies and are skint then suddenly they have a new benefactor and are awash with cash. Said benefactor snuffs it but with more money from a cup run than they know what to do with the family says it will make no difference. Next thing they are selling their prize assets like it was the last January sales before Armageddon. And all presided over by a yob who would be better suited to the shipyards or the bare-knuckle boxing ring - anything that doesn't require people skills or courtesy. Very very odd indeed. Sustainable? Not a cat in hell's.........................

the wife of the ex chairman was on the radio recently, she made it clear that the club cannot sustain its current position, or a challenge for promotion, with such small crowds. She said that the club had thought that crowds would increase significantly after promotion and they haven't, so it was not a great outlook.

They remind me a bit of Rushden and Diamonds but with added cup runs.

It turned out that the Diamonds weren't forever....

A large price to pay if it means they are not now strong enough to get promotion. I have a feeling they were expecting to double their crowds and increase their revenue by being in the football league. The town is full of London prem fans who will not swap their alliegences and suddenly support their local L2 team.

Crawley would be totally screwed if they gained promotion to League 1 at the end of the season

Just to confirm to the people who are confused, Crawley do NOT want promotion this season. In the same way that Lewes were desperate not to win the Blue Square South the season that they, unfortunately, did. Ironic really. But no club can sustain such low crowds, generating the best part of £2million selling Tubbs and Barnett, and the cup run, will have done them a lot of favours but they can't sustain their wage structure at the moment... Which is how Portsmouth started.

The owners couldn't have taken into account the general indifference of Crawley people for anything other than standing outside corals in a vest and track suit.

they would have a large catchment area if they were situated pretty well anywhere but exactly where they are - too far south for Londoners - too far north for the coast - too far west for the nouveux riche of kent and too far east for surrey old money
