Didn't work for Blackpool...not convinced Holt is a Premier League player, then again I didn't see him as a Championship player either and he proved everyone wrong so who knows.

yeah apparently won't be sorted til after but posh chairman wants an auction. 1 bid accepted at this time but obviously that can be matched. not sure how there can be an auction if everyone matches the accepted bid!

where CMS wants to go should have a bearing as only 1 year left so can't really force him somewhere

The bid can be the same but the extras thrown in for the player can be different (signing on fee , sponsor car , image rights etc etc) plus the sell on clause. Peterborough need 2 clubs to get into a bidding war to pay for all those new seats in the away end.

Their one season in the Premier League wont have left them in financial straits , they had a wage cap and kept to it. With the parachute payments they should be a top 6 side in the Championship for the next 4 years if they dont get promotion before then.

yeah they'll be fine financially, will also get loads for charlie adam

the problem is they've released a load of players so will pretty much need to rebuild the squad and it will still be tough to compete next season with their wage cap

burnley did similar and couldn't make the playoffs in what was a fairly average championship last season

Peterborough have a replacement lined up for a club record fee.

I'd put money on it being Cody McDonald of Norwich who spent last season on loan, very successfully at Gillingham.

CMS for Cody McDonald + 2.5 million

many of their fans think its Chris Taylor from Oldham?

I think any team promoted from the Championship is severely disadvantaged before any games have been played because of the vast amounts of money being splashed around by the top 8-10 clubs which means every game you'll be playing for scraps.

Could it be Le Fondre they're buying? By the way, Posh have released several players today including the magnificently-named Exodus Geohaghon.

Hope the local paper doesn't miss the chance of a classic headline. "Exodus on way out" perhaps or "Exodus' Number's up" or...well, you get the idea.

Thanks Greens :(
A chum of mine who works at West Brom mentioned that they had three bids rejected for CMS. As far as he knows they are out of the picture but that there is a lot of competition for him.

The odd thing is that Glenn Murray was/is as good I would say, but hasn't attracted the same level of interest as far as we are aware. What's the difference here?

The difference was that CMS didn't flop to the floor at the slightest contact from a defender, generally ran his socks off every game, and scored 50% more goals than GM. Hence a bigger money move to a Prem club, rather than a last ditch attempt to coin it...
