Quite right too. Have you got your bra back on now?

Not much you can do about a cracked rib, as the treatment is the same if it is fractured or simply bruised, and to be honest the time it will take to heal is comparable (expect pain on exercise for tweo or three weeks. Certainly a trip to A&E will not really be needed unless you have difficulty in breathing.

Best thing is to take a non steroidal anti inflamatory (Voltarol, "Diclofenac") and try and remember that you still need to fully inflate the lungs -even if it hurts- regularly, otherwise you run the risk of a chest infection which you really don't want.

Get well soon.

are you a doctor by any chance?

More than likely you haven't cracked a rib, it sounds like you have torn the cartilage that joins your sternum to your rib-cage. If this is the case then you can look forward to 4-6 weeks of finding it painful to breathe heavily, laugh or move rapidly. I can speak from experience on this, having done it no less than 3 times playing hockey, each time it was caused by a collision with another player. You could probably take some mind bendingly strong anti-inflammatory drugs, mind altering drugs or copious amounts of alcohol to numb the pain...or do as I did and let nature take its course ant your body repair itself.

Good luck.
