Confusion surrounds Forster deal

Brighton have contacted the Football League to see whether Nicky Forster's move to Crystal Palace can still go ahead.

Brighton claim they went ahead with the purchase of Glenn Murray from Rochdale after Palace told them they had submitted the relevant forms for Forster.

But Palace say the transfer collapsed because Forster arrived too late in Croydon to complete the deal before the midnight deadline.

The Football League is examining the timeline of the relevant paperwork.

Brighton manager Dean Wilkins revealed the club had received a call at 2355 GMT - five minutes before the transfer window closed - from Crystal Palace saying they had completed the relevant documents to sign Forster.

"That's when Dick Knight (Brighton chairman) gave the go-ahead for our forms (to register Murray) to go through," Wilkins told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"Once their forms were sent, we had to get ours off very quickly. I thought we were struggling for time."

But after completing the Murray deal for £300k, Brighton were then contacted by the Football League at 0015 GMT saying they had not received all the documents to complete the Forster deal.

However, Crystal Palace maintain the 34-year-old did not turn up in time to complete a medical.

Swap Harry Rednapp for Dean Wilkins and the 2 teams involved to Man City and Pompey and you'll be spot on!

I think Bozza should be banned for such ludicrous rumours. As a democracy we should fight for the abdication of Bozza, as he clearly cannot behave like a role model. :)

No vote required. You speak sense.

I'll shut the board down now.
