way too good to turn down if offered to us - he is being described by Valencia fans as "one of the potential greats whose (progress) was ruined by injury". (loose translation)

he is never going to play even 30 games a season but when he is available he will destroy sides and our other players will learn from him. He won't take KLL's place or anyone else's - never worry. He is too old but he is way way too good to say no to on a free - he will add to the squad overall and when he is fit, which is admittedly not very often, he is a £5m+ player, an ex-Spain International, a UEFA Cup winner........................

how good is he? Well my favourite quote so far comes from Eurosport who describe the (possible) signing by us as "MENTAL!" - f***ing love that

Vicente Rodriguez can close today a move to Brighton City of the Championship, the English second division. The former Valencia CF player is without a club since finished his contract with the entity Mestalla on 30 June, and could fulfill his dream of playing in England, although this modest team that won promotion last season and now up the category leader. Gustavo Poyet, the former Real Zaragoza, is technical.

"Modest team" ?

How dare they...!

For what it's worth it seems this rumor was started 9 hours ago by Augustin fochesato in Argentina on twitter

the difference being that Owen signed for ManU already and Zamora has years left on his contract and wants a shout at playing for England (same for Owen though far less likly). added to this, the story is from a mainstream media source, not a bloke down the pub/NSC. still plenty of scope for it being bollocks of course, and some are being a little premature.

Mainstream, maybe. However, for anyone that follows F1 Marca has a bit of a reputation for being worse than The Sport for the quality of it's F1 journalism. Hopefully it's football reporting is a bit more accurate.

I must be in a minority of one as I've never heard if him.

He seems to have spent the last five years injured so hopefully it will be on a pay as you play basis!

Is completely crocked and insanely injury prone...... think Ledley King type of injuries.

BUT he IS better than 23M Mata and better than David Silva when fit....... SERIOUS! (or was for about 5 of the last 7 years and other 2 probably didn't play a single game due to injury)

If happens O! M! G!

Gus wants 2 players for each position and due to injuries we have only been playing with 1 winger. He could provide the extra number we need with some of them being able to play on either wing

maybe gus sees him as someone who could play in the hole just behind mackail-smith rather than an out and out winger....
