Likewise, although it would obviously depend on the exact screen size and if you wanted a new LCD or a used one.

It's possible that the laptop has overheated whilst doing the graphics update and this has caused the LCD to get too hot and crack (they can be very sensitive sometimes).

I had a laptop that the cat threw down the stairs (well, g/f was walking down the stairs and the cat tripped her up). £20 on ebay for a new screen and 2 hours to fit it. Worked a treat, until it got dropped again (bloody cat) and snapped the motherboard.
