I'm sure there's a way that I make a Windows XP Disc on my PC. I, like many, bought a computer with XP pre-installed and supplied with a recovery disc. When I want to re-install windows with the recovery disc it will wipe out everything I have on my hard drive. What I would like to do is partition my hard drive with XP on its own, then if it needs re-installing or repairing, I don't lose 100Gb of stuff.

Anybody know how to go about it-or know of a site with instructions.

Thanks.

Falmer, soon...
It's problematic trying to re-partition a drive without losing data.

Easiest solution is to get another hard drive. Install the new OS onto that. (partition it, if you like) although as you'll then have two drives there may be no need to partition.

Why just not buy an XP CD on eBay ? You could get one for about £50. I've just looked.

Can I just clarify the problem.
Are you asking how you make a partition on a hard disk (say 1 Gb) so that you can copy the contents of a standard
XP CD (that you already have).

Or are you asking for a copy of XP pro? To put on the partition you know how to create?
