Who's heard the talksport Come on England song, to the tune of Come on Eileen.
I know it's rubbish, but its actually growing on me.

1 nil, 2 nil, 3 nil, 4 nil 5 - keep the countrys dream alive,
Come on England

If he was dead Kevin Rowland would turn in his grave, as it is he is usually to be found strolling along Western Road with battered carrier bag in hand (see also Hill, Benny).

The Farm, who's hit(singular) includes 'Altogether Now' have had that song re-mashed for Euro 2004 apparently. You can buy their greatest hits album for £14.99 in CD Warehouse, also on Western Road and quite incredibly it contains something like 16 tracks!

Get yaself the XFM song Born In England. A great little tune to singalong to and features The Delays, The Libertines, Supergrass, Bernard Butler and, er, James Nesbit. Not quite Three Lions but rousing stuff all the same.

Yeah, the XFM song rocks, it's a shame that they can't broadcast much further down than the M25 as it's a quality radio station.

We're singing come on England"

For a 'football' song it has all the right bits.

A tune people know.
An easy to remember chorus that stands on it's own.
Errrrr.... Thats it.

Lets face it football songs are not in the same country, let alone stadium as proper records. They are for a small moment.

For

"We are the best, forget all the rest
We're singing come on England"

see

"We're by far the greatest team the world has ever seen"

or

"When the ball hits the goal it's not Shearer or Cole, it's Zamora"
(Yes the first verse is a bit better)

or

"Chris McPhee oh Chris McPhee when will you score a goal or 3"

Get the point , they are SUPPOSED to be a bit pants.

The trouble is they are always comapared to 3 Lions or World in Motion which broke the rules and were good songs as well.
