I have a feeling there may well be more ex Cov/Leicester players to come.
Anyone know what position he plays in? Please say winger.

Lets hope he's over his troublesome Achilles injury. Good back up for Lynch and Elphick. I wonder if this means El-Abd is off?

Doesn't have me jumping up and down but could be a good meat and potatoes signing.

1 down, 5 to go for Adams

I cant help but feel if Wilkins had signed him, some people on here would be in uproar - a has been player/never heard of him/too old - any reason they could think of.

Hope is a goodun, good luck to him and welcome of course

Sky Blues Defender To Sign

Posted on: Wed 28 May 2008

By Paul Camillin

Micky Adams is set to complete the first signing of his new spell as Albion boss in the next 24 hours, with "no-nonsense" Irish central defender Colin Hawkins due to sign on a free transfer from Coventry City.

The 30-year-old defender has passed a medical and will sign a two-year contract with Albion, after they beat off competition from Championship and three Scottish Premier League clubs.

A delighted Micky Adams, who signed Hawkins at Coventry, said, "He is a no-nonsense defender; an experienced centre-half and a strong character who will be a good influence in the dressing room.

"Colin has won a lot of honours in his home country and has played in the Championship with Coventry City. He was very unlucky at Coventry with injury, just as he was establishing himself as a regular in the side. He is a very welcome addition to the Albion squad. I am very pleased we've got him."

Chairman Dick Knight added, "Colin is the type player we have been targeting and his experience will help our other young defenders continue the excellent progress they made last season.

"He has won four Irish league titles and is now over his injury problems at Coventry and keen to get playing again regularly. He is looking forward to working with Micky and we warmly him to the club."

Hawkins began his career as a trainee with Coventry City, before returning to his native Ireland to join St Patricks, where he won the Irish championship in 1998 and 1999 - and in 1998 won the Irish Player and Young Player of the Year awards.

He returned to England with Doncaster Rovers in 2000 and spent two seasons at Belle Vue, before returning to Ireland with Bohemians and Shelbourne. He won further Irish championships with the former in 2003 and the latter in 2006.

Micky Adams took him to the Ricoh Arena in July 2006, and although he was very much part of Iain Dowie's plans, he did not figure in current boss Chris Coleman's plans. He spent the end of last season on loan with Chesterfield and was released by the Sky Blues at the end of the season.

In a cave
Coventry site calls him a no nonsense defender.

Achilles injury problem meant just 1 appearance last season for Coventry and 5 games on loan at Chesterfield (March 2008).

Coventry confirmed his contract would not be renewed on the 24th March

As Adams has said..... Championship or proven league 1 players...

Good experienced player, now looking forwards to the exciting signing of a decent winger and us paying some cash out for him.
