I won't be buying a new bike, my trusty Dawes mountain bike will do the trick. Partly because I know I will be unlikely to ride that distance again once the task is complete. I'm really looking forward to it though.

Bike to the Future is top drawer.

That's what you get when professionals get involved

Bike To The Future I - Goldstone to Priestfield
Bike To The Future II - Priestfield to Withdean
Bike To The Future III - Withdean to The AMEX

65 miles, 15 riders, 4 stadiums, 1 cause

I don't suppose Marty McFly was one of the NSC volunteers...

I will keep saying this.
Your trusty, even your rusty, ountain bike will be fine, but the tyres won't be.
You'll need the narrowest and slickest tyres you can get on your wheels.
The whole experience will be so so so very much easier.

Mountain bike tyres are designed to go 'through' anything.
Road bike are designed to go 'on' tarmac.

I'm going to have to buy a new bike because my mountain bike isn't really cut out for these distances! Erk.

I hate drop-handlebar racers but I need something lightweight and comfortable (i.e. not leaving my arse looking like I've just been the pool cleaner at Barrymore's house).

Recommendations pls? Budget anything up to a grand for something special.

Mate, just get some skinny tyres for you MTB, makes a hell of a difference....

are any of the 15 cyclists available at the weekend to do photoshoot for The Argus at Weekend?
They are doing a story on it, and want a photo to go with it.

Just seeing what is best for everyone. Saturday or Sunday. AMEX or Withdean for the pic

Let me know today if possible
