and why the f*** would I want to look at something blocky in that resolution anyway? a didnt pay £400 for a graphics card to look at crap in 8 bit colour

Err, exporting a modeline is something the DRIVER does. And 99.95% of drivers export the modelines for 640x480@8, @16, @24 and @32, if not even @15. It takes one more line of code per modeline, so it saves basically nothing to the coder to not do it

You can't bruteforce a modeline if the driver doesn't have it, so that app would still be useless.

In his defence (Much as it pains me) it allows me to set my res to 640x480 which WIndows won't do because of my 17" TFT. I'm going to try a couple of old games as they wouldn't work - screen just went funny when they tried starting in 640x480
