I'll never understand some people's attitude to the Champions League.

They get all angry that it is elitist and self-perpetuating, then when you do get some new teams involved like this season you hear 'it's a just bunch of no-hopers'. Make your minds up.

Anyone know when/what time the Europa Cup draw is?

Tommorow at 1pm I believe, as the qualifiers are on tonight. Its the one that counts...

That's not the issue I have with it. My issue is that the first round is dull. In every single group, we will be able to predict the top 2 qualifiers and the chances are that you won't get more than one qualifier wrong. Dull. The problem with this format is that the chance of an upset is reduced still further.

i.e. In a home/away one-off tie, some team from Albania gets a fluky equaliser away to a big team and they might only need a 0-0 at home to get through. Nowadays, they might just get that 0-0 but if they're well beaten as expected in all the other games, then they still won't qualify and that effort goes unrewarded.

Man Utd and Rangers in the same group would be interesting...wonder if the southern leg of the fixture might be made home fans only...Rangers would probably be as welcome in Manchester as the proverbial pork chop at a barmitzvah!

Shouldn't all these players be training rather than on a jolly in Monaco?

The draw looks pretty friendly for Arsenal so far with AZ and Olympiakos.

Not sure about Liverpool. Reckon Rangers have got as nice a group as they could have hoped for really.
