It is being reported on radio that David Le Cluse the chairman of Croydon Athletic FC was found dead on Saturday.
He was appointed to the chaimanship of the football club by owner Mazhar Majeed who is under investigation by Scotland Yard and the Parkistan Cricket Authority over the betting scandal that came to light during the Parkistan tour of England this summer. Speculation is that Majeed only brought Croydon Athletic as a means to launder money.

The guy was putting serious money into Croydon. Rumour had it a couple of seasons back (when they were in the same division as Crowborough) their playing budget was £3k a week. At that level of football that is obscene!

there was an article in the guardian about croydon athletic a few weeks back - it basically said they were being used to launder money, large amounts of money too.

is this majeed connected to the guys who used to 'run' crawley? probably not but i thought i'd ask.

HMRC and the police were involved in the investigation. wasn't just majeed, it seemed to involve a fair number of crooksters.

the article highlighted how and why non-leagues are rife for money laundering - don't think it's hard to launder through professional clubs either though (hello pompey!).
