Ollie Rayner will be loving this. Serves us right for not standing by our homegrown talent and replacing them with overpaid journeymen.

How did we not stand by Rayner?

When Mushy retired in 2008 Rayner played and did little. In 2009 he was the front line spinner and ineffective, so they had to bring Chawla in. So he had about a season to stake his claim and either did not have the talent or application to achieve this.

Could be worse.

Derbyshire bowled out for 95 in Div 2 before lunch on the first day!

COuld be Middlesex offered him better terms than us, a definite starting place, and the opportunity to play regulalrly at Lord's (albeit in Div 2 last year)

What is there not to accept!

146/5 now. In some ways this is not good. Perhaps a nice tidy batting wicket for Middlesex to exploit tomorrow or tonight.

I'm sure the pitch is a bowlers paradise, what with the pitch dried out after no rain for a week and there being not a cloud in the sky for the 5th day running.

So 33/4 is a great score under the circumstances.

And who chose to bat first?

Thanks Mr Cut and Paste.

My point was he has had his chances at Sussex at not taken them, so him moving on is one of those things.

Altho I got the impression the club were keen to keep him, but he just wanted to move on. Nothing wrong there - he just has a bit more ambition than we did.
