Do you think it’s about who partners Baleba now in PL games, that’s how I see it. Even before today. Baleba’s gone through the gears.

I actually think it's important for him to step in and out of the first team now and again and to manage his development, not over expose him and not burn him out.

Great fan of WBG as I am, I think today showed why he was let go. I don't think he could ever do what Baleba did today playing as the only defensive MF.

Now surely some literary genius on NSC can slot this one home

He played as the only DM at home against Man Utd where he was basically the best player on the pitch.

And, as I said, I’d have had him further back and allow Baleba to be the runner further forward.

But it’s a preference on style as much as anything.

I thought Ayari looked pretty good, no doubt helped by Baleba but still looked handy himself.

Our best player by an absolute mile! The easiest MOTM decision ever. On a completely different level to everyone else.

Van Hecke and Veltman were also immense I thought.

Van Hecke was his usual self, class and didn’t put a foot wrong. He’s so good these days it’s ridiculous.

But in all honesty, neither him or Veltman had much to do. Ipswich defended very well but offered nothing going forward and when they did, Baleba generally sorted it out. They came for a point and got it.

If he'd put that chance away after 6 minutes, I reckon we'd have got 4 or 5. I think that's the first one he's really kept down and on target - so it's going to happen soon!

I didn’t know much about him (I know you watch the age group / other games), and I recently listened to others who watch those games who don’t rate him. He did okay today.

Nearly all of their dangerous counters were created on the other side though as once again we faced an asymmetric formation with no real left winger but a real right winger licking the sideline.
