I remember going to the dogs on Tuesday evenings with my Dad. If he lost or broke even we would be on the special bus that went to Woodingdean , getting off at the top of Elm Grove and walking over the Race Hill , through the tunnel and down the "chalky path" into the top of Whitehawk. If he won a few bob we had fish and chips and caught the 3A and went home the long way round but only a 5 minute walk from the bus stop to home.
