It's not so much the idea of resting him, more the attitude that "it's bristol city, so we can afford to rest" as if it's a given we don't need our strongest team to face bristol.

My point is that he cannot play his strongest team for 5 games in 2 weeks. No club can do that. Something has to give.

Personally I do not buy all this 'need a rest', 'time to settle in' stuff. If you are a professional footballer it is your job to be fit.

If I had scored a hat-trick 3 days ago I would be GAGGING to start the next game.

Looks like Gus has got one eye on Saturday, which is a bit of a six pointer the way Bolton have been playing of late. Although three points is massive for ourselves tonight, as I can see Palace drawing and Boro possibly dropping points. It's a fine balancing act, but it's a big call to rest a man who has just scored a hat trick and must be brimming with confidence and also to bring Bridcutt straight back in. Sure he is a big player for us but two wins on the bounce without him and five goals to boot....mmmmmmm interesting.
