The game looks in doubt but i seem to remember a game going ahead between these two sides up at posh with 3 inches of snow on the pitch at kick off. Lets hope for a hardy ref or a certain posters predicted rapid thaw by tuesday.

That was in the days before they used to postpone games just because it was a bit slippy on the roads outside.

I think your mind is playing tricks with you!!

Surely no football match would be played in "3 inches of snow".

Are you sure you didnt just imagine it, after sniffing 3 inches of snow?

Meopham, Kent.
A few of us were discussing that on Saturday, when was the last time you saw a game getting played after they merely cleared the snow off the lines?

Presume apart from the cup of bovril you got free admission for the game?

Way out west
I remember that match too, also that the snow was deeper on one side of the pitch than the other.

Did it snow for the replay?.
Was it 2-2 up there, in the snow.
Oh happy days, orange ball, just the lines cleared, packed in like sardines, letting off flares in the middle of that (which cleared some space), policeman walking up and down the coach, holding a bin bag saying 'can I have all your knifes, bottles and any other weapons, please', my football novice mate bringing stinky egg sarnies with him.

It's the little things you remember, as it probably wasn't even 2-2.

Is that the game where one of the Peterborough goals was a shot skimming along the ground, which hit a frozen rut and ballooned over Digweeds head into the goal?? Cup game I think.

It was, indeed, 2-2 in the snow at peterborough and also 2-2 in the snow V Torquay at the Goldstone in the late 60's when Britishy rail put up signs saying the game was off so under 6,000 attended what could have been a 10-15k crowd.

On the Big match revisited, a few weeks back, they showed man City v Chelsea on a snow covered pitch. Young Clive Walker, with hair flowing, scored.

I remember the Torquay game. Me and a mate walked from Portslade Village arriving just in time for kick off

Jacobs scored I think, maybe Fashanu as well. At least 5k packed into London road, most packed ever that day. We won the replay 1 - 0 through Alan Biley I think to go into 1/4 finals against southampton

We took a coach load from the White Admiral Pub. Utter hoolifest. We all sat on the coach by St. Peters Church waiting for word that the game was on. Memory is softening with age but I remember getting stopped by police on the A1 as they checked the bus for booze (which had all been consumed and empties chucked out still driving) and weapons. We all got out and were pissing up the side of the bus. The copper in front told the driver that he was losing antifreeze!!!!!!!! as the stream of piss moved by. Into the ground, pitch looked like an ice skating rink. All of us (pre-Hillsborough) stuck in the terrace behind the goal. Never felt more packed in than that day. We went down 1-0, pulled it back, 2-1, pulled it back again. The Boro lads were giving it the large all game. After the draw, many of the boys headed into town and were escorted back by the constabulary and we were "uninvited" to ever return again.

Those were the days............
