This is the crux of it. Too much point scoring going on, to many people eager to criticise the police for lack of response, all the while there seems to me to be a complete lack of condemnation of the rioters themselves.

Having watched sky news all night i wouldnt agree with that, I thought that the news and especially the tabloids would look at creating this as a purely political battle but they havent, they have put the scum out to dry and rightly so.

Also the sky coverage tonight has been first class.

I don't expect constructive alternatives from most politicians, but this is what I think I ought to expect.

You're probably right though -Boris might do the same. I do expect opposition politicians to call the current incumbants to account, but there is something about Ken's wooley "disaffected youth" rhetoric that is getting right on my tits. It's got nothing to do with that, it's opportunistic hooligans and gangs taking the opportunity to fight police and loot random shops (in both cases, where they can safely melt into the crowd)

The politicians have been exposed as having a lack of wit. I'm hearing too much sixth form socialism and young farmers club conservatism.

Him and Cameron must be shitting themselves as they won't have a f***ing clue what to do, the years of Politically Correct bollocks and human rights shite is coming home to roost now.

Even more worrying is that Anders Behring Brevik predicted exactly this.

Interesting that a bunch of illiterate kids can organise a wrecking and looting spree on the hoof via their Blackberries. Yet the authorities can't organise a coherent response for 72 hours because everyone's abroad. Jesus, haven't they ever heard of Facetime.

I'm afraid so, yes.

It's all fluffy drivel from the left and "hit them and hit them hard" with absolutely no substance bollocks from the right. Nothing constructive from most politicians that I have heard. I can't remember British politics being quite so feeble across the board as it is now.

Poor judgment by Borris not to come back sooner.
I thought that Ken made himself look a bit of a fool on newsnight and got well and truly owned by a couple of the other guests.

The mobs mobilise using hand held devices and the police are out handing out photocopied leaflets and shouting into loud hailers. The plod do need to gen up on 21st century technologies.

Not really, I didnt say it was his fault.

But i find it ridiculous that the Mayor Of London and the PM wait 3 days before coming home to try and resolves some deep lying issues. The people doing this are absolute scum however, every second this coninues should make Camerons job virtually untenable.

I don't know about the world you live in but mine has mobile phones, blackberrys and high speed internet capable of teleconferencing. You don't have to be local to manage a situation.

I was referring more to the politicians. To be fair on the police, they can only work with the equipment they're given.

Do f*** off. How patronising are you!!! When you are the PM and The Mayor Of London you should be here leading from the front.

People did not vote these people in because they are able to arrange actions via a f***ing call on skype whilst they are on holiday.

Personally when I vote I do so based on how well they could / would manage the country and situations - not where they will manage the situations from. There's no difference them being in London and managing a situation in Birmingham via technology than if they manage a situation in London from abroad. If the situation can only really be managed by the PM or the Mayor I would question the strength and skill of those in the chain of command.

Yes indeed they should - they were obviously not expecting the poor downtrodden masses to be able to afford hand held devices.

I don't think what they can AFFORD is relevant. They've all got brand new iPhones over the last couple of nights...

Beneath the bumbling jovial exterior he's a Bullingdon berk of the first degree.

Don't think eton lets in berks and neither does Oxford University award degrees to a "berk of the first order" (Otherwise I'd have several)

I feel sorry for both Cameron and Johnson. It's easy to say they should have come home instantly but - like them or hate them - they've both got incredibly responsible jobs and need a proper break every now and then. I can imagine Boris in particular must be particularly busy with the Olympic build-up.

It will be interesting to see if Boris and the coalition sing from the same hymn sheet re the method of keeping order. I expect Boris will want a far stricter response than Theresa May.
