I don't think this is the most exciting World Cup I have seen. Anyone else feel the same? Lots of these games have not lived up to their expectations.
The one that dissapointed me the most was Spain V Portugal.

The most memorable games for excitement for me where

Italy V Slovakia (The last 20 minutes where excellent. Unexpected result, but nearly ended 3-3)
Germany V England (For the wrong reasons but exciting)
Holland V Brazil (Unexpected result, but great to watch)
Germany v Argentina (Excellent game)

Forgot one
Uruguay V Ghana hand ball in the last minute and missed penalty

The first round of games were the most bland first round I can remember, but it has got better as the tournament has gone on, IMO.

And obviously, these things have been absolutely TREMENDOUS:

It is a little odd that the teams in the first round only played two of the other teams in their group and not all three...wonder what the reason was for that?

The first two lots of group games all seemed pretty dull, but it has certainly picked up since. The semi-finals and final alway have the potential to be a major borefest as inevitably neither side wants to lose so it turns into a very negative game.

I think he's referring to the 1954 World Cup. We appeared to be in a group with Italy, Switzerland and Belguim, yet we didn't seem to play Italy.

Anyway, I think it's been 'quite good' overall. It took a while to get going but there have been some great games. Out of recent World Cups I would say it's certainly better than 2002 and probably on a par with 1998 and 2006

Bollocks, much better than the last one or two.

What about NZ holding out for a 1-1 draw against the might of Italy? The Blackburn guy Ryan Nelsen should be made an honourable All Black for that.

It hasn't been great overall and for me as soon as England are out I lose a lot of interest - probably part of the getting over it! So in that respect no it's not been that good.

France 98 (altho we lost in 2nd round) was the best by far I've seen.

I was but we didn't have a TV and my Dad was mad on rugby. Plus I was only about 5...

Has there been a World Cup ??????

That would be a festival of football showcasing the talents of the world's best players??

Hardly what I have been watching!

And last night was terrible - in fact I fell asleep during the game!

Surely the problem is that you only remember the good games from Cups gone past. I wouldn't mind betting that all tournaments have had pretty dull games in the group stages. It does seem to have got better the deeper into it though, but then that's no real surprise, is it ?

Domenech is a good shout actually. Don't agree about Suarez but that has been done to death so will leave it at that!
