Saturation coverage (thanks in part to several kick off times) + excessive ticket prices + lack of competition at the top + better product in other sports + whinging overpaid primadonners not behaving like role models = WANING INTEREST.

How can it cost more to stand at Crawley than to stand at Juventus? RIDICULOUS.

Really? thats stupid

According to the Guardian article over the weekend, yes.

And it gets worse. €12 (£8) to get into Dortmund or Bayern, and less for kids. £48 minimum at Chelsea. Including kids. No concessions. Not including mandatory booking fee.

RUBBISH.

Abramovich isn't killing it, Murdoch and the Premier league started that process years ago, in the early 90's. Chelsea's current situation is just a logical progression from that.

Like it or not, anybody who has signed up to Sky during that time is an accessory to the crime. Everyone who has supported Sky is like a turkey voting for Christmas.

The Scotland-ification of our leagues will continue exactly as predicted in certain quarters all those years ago.

:nono: The thing is how many foreign 'superstars' would even be over here if it wasn't for the £40-100k a week? Apparently it has been a 'lifetime's ambition' for most of these foreigners to play in the Premiership, but I wonder how much that ambition would waver if the wages were slashed. I would imagine most would head back to La Liga, Serie A or Portugal on the first plane rather than hang around to get rained on week in week out in Liverpool or Manchester....

A salary cap is needed over here of about 5k a week which would drive out the foreigners and breathe fresh life into our youth academies. Ticket prices would come down and everyone (except the Carlos Kickaball's) would be happy. Just think, £10 a head at a 50k capacity Falmer for the visit of Man Ure and we'd probably have 45k+ through the turnstiles.
