Perverting the course of justice, an offence at common law, is triable on indictment only, carrying a maximum sentence of life imprisonment. However, no sentence above 10 years has been passed in the last century for this offence. However Courts don't like this offence and there is a significant danger that anyone found guilty will go to gaol for 3 to 6 months depending on the circumstances.
