Was that the season when we finished away to Reading?
That was a quality day out. It was their promotion party & it wasn't all ticket! We took the whole town over. I think they wondered what we were doing there as we had nothing to play for, but there was a huge mob of Brighton there that day.

Old enough to remember that Royal Ali?

I remember it. We invaded the pitch at the end... happy days. You brought around 2,000 which in those days and the division was not a bad following at all. About 12,000 in total at Elm Park that day, again not too bad for the division and the crowds at that time...

We had an immense team that year and the year after. This team is close to being as good (many will argue better now) but I still think that our old lineup could have cut it in the Prem.

Tearing our hair out at the plight of the Albion, both on the pitch and financially. Still, we had an ex politician always giving interviews on local radio about the situation at the club. He seemed to talk a lot of sense at the time too.....Oh hindsight eh?....

Brighton and Hove Albion Manager Danny Cullip welcomed Jakes decision saying that now the player had returned to the Albion after 7 years away this decision would allow him to play on at the highest level for another couple of years.
Englands loss is Brightons gain he went on to say and he now hoped that this news would help in the push for planning permission at Falmer.

The seagulls are quoted as being about to resign two of their old players to add experience to the young lads Kerry Mayo and Leon Knight.

Chairman Dick Knight says if we can stay in the league and not go into the Conference we have more chance of persuading the banks to lend us the mon ey to build FALMER if permissiion is granted at the reconvened inquiry next spring.

The Vice Chairman known to fans as London Irish says we must all get behind the club for this final push.

Yep, the first was a pen awarded about 20 secs after my mate uttered "They haven't had a homer decision yet".

Afterwards it kicked off outside near Prospect Park! The delights of Elm Park will live forever.
