As I settle down begrudgingly to watch The Hulk 2 (just knowing I`m going to regret it) I was thinking back to the biggest 'Blockbuster flops' of years gone by. The first Hulk film was one IMO and I remember Godzilla getting a bit of a panning.

Any others spring to mind ?

hardly a blockbuster eitherway.

the "blockbuster" is a film that has people queing round the block to see it. dont think it matters what the critics think, and the studios dont care what they think as long as it brings inthe expect mulluah. lowest common denominator and that. some intended blockbuster fail miserably to get the average punter to go, as its so shit the first wave tell all their mates its pants.

By flop are we talking about poor films or films that did poor box office (what I understand the term flop to mean when referring to films).

There's plenty of terrible blockbusters, in fact this year we've already had the pretty woeful Angels and Demons and the god-awful X Men Origins: Wolverine - truely one of the worst films I've ever seen.

the postman. Major flop.

wasn't the golden compass a mega bucks movie that did nothing in the box office as well.

The Golden Compass, starring a little girl from Brighton in one of the worst film adaptations of a book of ALL time. Whoever directed that wants shooting.

Someone else mentioned Independence Day, one of the greatest films I've ever seen to this day.. and most certainly not a flop in any way, shape or form at the Box Office.

Snakes on a Plane flopped like a fish though didn't it? It was only meant to be a B movie anyway I think, but even so. It dived.

your right, it didn't do well at the cinema, it only became popular after being sold cheaply on vhs and word of mouth about it spread.

Box office flops should be big budget films that did nothing at the box office. Independance Day took $ 811 000 000 at the Woldwide Box office so , a flop, er I think not. Even Waterworld often trotted out as a huge disaster at the box office was infact not. It turned around a profit taking $ 255 000 000. Ad to this this the dvd sales and rentals and the satelite and tv payments those add ons often double the takings.

I also found both Independance Day and Waterworld entertaining and decent films.
