Saw this on Yahoo that made me chuckle:

The 'prank-war' between Blackpool and Preston North End fans reached new levels when a Blackpool fan managed to rig the Countdown conundrum to make fun of Preston.

One of the producers on the show, a huge Blackpool fan, set the conundrum clue as 'PNE CRISIS' in a dig at their rivals who have recently been relegated from the Championship.

It comes just days after Blackpool fans managed to fly two banners taunting Preston over their relegation above North End's Deepdale ground during their final match of the season.

Last season Preston fans started the 'war' by infamously hanging a banner saying 'forever in our shadow' on the M55 as Blackpool fans travelled down to watch their Championship play-off final with Cardiff City.

Preston manager Phil Brown said the flown banners were "distasteful" and added "if I had a gun I would have shot the plane down" - but the club has taken the Countdown prank in better humour.

"We can see the funny side of the joke and accept that with any setback you will always have opposition supporters ready to poke fun," they said in a statement.

"If this is the handywork of somebody who supports a rival, then we will begrudgingly accept that it's a novel way of trying to do so. Most of the jibes are water off a duck's back to our supporters who are purchasing season tickets as we look forward to a hopefully successful season."

A Channel 4 statement said: "One of the members of the production team is a life-long Blackpool fan and it was intended to be friendly banter, all done in good humour."

Contestants had 30 seconds to guess the conundrum anagram with the answer in this case being 'Priciness'.

Blackpool are Preston's fierce rivals, and while North End prepare for life in England's third tier, Blackpool are currently battling to stay in the Premier League.

As any Brizzle City fan will confirm, this type of prank has a nasty habit of nipping you on your backside. On the way to the play-off final in Cardiff, just outside Bristol some yokel thought it it funny to hang a banner off a bridge near Bristol on the M4 stating we may as well turn back as we stood no chance. The rest as they say is history !!

Indeed - and their 'Better Luck Next Year Brighton' banner inside the stadium.
