blackburn rovers have one of the best academys in the country and won the under 18 league last year. they have a youth team budget of around ?2million.

to put into perspective, on arrival at rovers, mark hughes was so impessed with the youth set-up that he swapped the kids training facilites with the 1st team training facilities.

they are so into the youth set up that they have a special logo with a little red rose bud replacing the fully grown rose on the rovers badge... which impressed me anyway. it's clever see.

can anybody tell me the population of blackburn and then the ratio of townsfolk to seats at ewood park compared to brighton & hove/withdean?

it would make interesting reading.

Wolves have just built a £multi-million multi pitch complex for their youth team. Only 308 supporters turned up and they lost to Charlton.

Sometime before 4th February (at the moment)

Seagulls grow really quickly - from little chicks to adult size in 4 weeks.

Im sure there are only about 90,000 people in Blackburn which makes it smaller than Crawley.I think there are only a similar number in Burnley.

Manchester 394,000.......my arse. We have 34,000 students at my university alone, and the other Uni's contribute about 50,000 on top of that.

Liverpool Academy

Just gives some indication of how poor the overall sports facilities are in Sussex.

The football pitches in town parks are half dandelions and hawkweeds, the rest mud with a little bit of grass.

Thats surely just the city though, not greater Manchester. For example Oldhams on the list but that is part of Greater Manchester. Along with Rochdale and Stockport.

Tom Saunders Lecture Theatre

Part of the Liverpool Academy:

Frank Skelly: The Tom Saunders Lecture Theatre has only been named in the last two years, but we were very proud and honoured to be friends and acquaintances and colleagues of Tom Saunders', whose contribution to the football club is quite unique. He was a mentor to every manager since Bill Shankly and being an ex-headmaster, he was also the first youth development officer in England really.

It's an education room. On Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings our boys can use this partly as a classroom and a lecture hall. Dave Shannon and John Owens have their games videotaped and they will come in on a Monday afternoon and they will go through and discuss and analyse, with the boys, certain aspects of their game.

Question:

Where do the Albion first team do their analysis etc ?

Will there be anything like this at Falmer?

And of it is a community facility will the public be able to use (at a price)?

Bet 365 are offering the Albion kids at 40/1 to win the thing.

I'm one of those kicking myself for missing a pay day the other night, so I'm having some of this.
