Crowhurst Road used to have quite a few firms and, I believe, some 9,500 worked on that road in it's prime.

That was a sight to see them all coming out at knocking-off time. They had to stagger the times the various firms closed in order to deal with the crowds.

I was at Gross/Chubbs.

Back in the days when the engineering works were where Durys Inn & The car park now are, Southern were a huge firm in Brighton. Pwoper biggun.......
