Pre-season opposition means very little.

I recall not so long ago our pre-season tour of Ireland was called off less than halfway through after The Battle Of Longford Town. It didn't hinder us getting promoted that season one little bit.

And it did let me have a good old laugh when they got relegated from the top flight last season. And have no chance of going back up anytime soon. Quite a drop from European football that year.

Bit like Leeds. Except not quite such wankers.

What happened?

At The Battle Of Flancare or to get them relegated?

at Flancare, dodgy tackle turns in to a barney turns in to Charlie and a Longford player getting sent off, turns in to Longford's chairman running on to acost the referee (who was not cleared to referee senior games!), followed by much of the Longford bench, random fans, etc.

Half time gets blown for somehow, and ten minutes in the game is called off.

As it happens Charlie's ban from the FAI was valid in the UK too so he missed a game early in the season.

Them getting relegated - broke the rules, docked points, went daaaahn.
