Platoon
The Thin Red Line - not everyone's cup of tea but one of my favourite movies ever!
The Bridge on the River Kwai - a classic in every way

Saving Private Ryan and Black Hawk Down are both very overrated.

Was watching the rather splendid offering that is ‘A Bridge Too Far’ last night, so what is your favourite war film (gawd knows what EP has in his collection...).

Tedious trivia alert:

Possibly the only war film featuring the subtitle "Eindhoven". As featured in the movie, the town was liberated 64 years ago tomorrow, and the troops rolled past about 50 metres from where I'm sitting now. Not a lot of people know that.

(Apart from the 200,000 people who live here...)
