Right, ive been using limewire- but after having a bit of a nightmare transfering the tunes into i-tunes, i thought i'd give something else a bash-

I've been happily using it but now it seems they only accept Diners Club or JCB cards. Why not Visa any more?

That's Visa's decision-something to do with no money getting to the artist despite the site's claims. No evidence of royalties so Visa withdrew their facilities.
