I would say the best ever Roger Moore Bond was Roger himself.

View To A Kill - bit biased but it was a great film, superb chart hit and the end scenes filmed in Amberley my home village.

Hard choice, as he's the worst Bond by a country mile, but I'd probably go for The Spy Who Loved Me, as it at least has a semblance of espionage amidst the corny gags a whackey characters.

Am I alone in struggling to remember which is which ? Inside my brain, all the Bond films seem to converge into one big mulch. I remember all the set pieces and spectacular stunts, but I'm buggered if I can recall which Bond film they happen in.

Live and let die

Has Jane Seymour in it and all about Voodoo etc.

The man with the golden gun

Pretty poor film with Scaramanga who uses a golden gun.

The spy who loved me

Has Jaws in the desert and the big ship that swallows submarines.

Moonraker

Bond in Space

For your eyes only

Was on today. All about getting hs hands on a computer that looks worse than an ZX spectrum.

Octopussy

Bond at the circus with lots of hot women.

A view to a kill

Bond in Paris against the big black bitch.

The Man With The Golden Gun was very poor if I remember rushed out a year after Live and Let Die to keep the momentum going.

Normally Bond films are every two or three years

Moonraker - the worst Bond movie from the worst Bond - aside from David Niven.

I know all of the Bond films have to be watched with a lot pot of salt to hand, but this one takes the biscuit - if you excuse me mixing my food metaphors. It's not necessarily all Moore's fault - some of the writing for these films is cringeworthy, the suits appalling, and the plotlines laughable - but his acting is, for the most part, non-existant. And he can't deliver a good punchline. For me, and I'm hard pushed on this one, his best is The Man With The Golden Gun.

A couple of things about the casting of Roger Moore. Although considered the quintessential Englishman to fulfil the Bond role, he originally turned down Diamonds Are Forever in 1971 (or rather he had to turn it down - he was contracted to do 'The Persuaders' at the time), as did Timothy Dalton (considered too young at the time), when he eventually took it up, it was because Sean Connery (who didn't want to do any more anyway) was considered too old to do it. So they cast Roger Moore - two years older than Connery.
