I cannot believe how little seems to be known of this film. Definitely up there with those of his finest hour.

Goodfellas is a great film but he wasn't the best thing in it by some margin (mind you - Pacino outdid him in GFII).

Taxi Driver. There is something about his performance in that that just sends a shiver up your spine, it is just so real and engrossing.

Special mentions to Godfather 2, Heat, Raging Bull, Midnight Run, King of Comedy, Angel Heart, Goodfellas and The Untouchables.

Also like the bit in Copland where he says 'you had your chance and you blew it!'

I think Taxi Driver is his most oddly appealing role. A character whose lost from every corner of political and social sensibility. A man who takes Cybil Shepherd to the ease of porn cinema and then feel closest to a 13 year old prostitute while he thinks of local slaughter. There's forever a hearty grimace in the excessively grooved surroundings of modern city.
As innocent viewers we end up just like the newspaper holding him a hero and praying his wound will heal. All we have as extra is to wish he never shoots again and doesn't f*** girls for sale.
