Nice idea in principle but the reality takes a lot of organisation and co-operation from people. Fortunately i'm with the A21 so i know how hard they have to work to get things organised.

There is quite a bit to it - we ran a few under the Scars & Stripes banner.

1. I don't think Eastbourne via Worthing would work. Those who live in Eastbourne gert a bit of a raw deal. Assuming a town centre pick-up in Worthing it will be an hour befor the coach even starts heading North. And that's assuming no pick-ups in between.

2. You should inform the police at the destination. You may well be required to stop and wait for a police escort into the locality of the away ground. And you may have to wait for all BHA coaches (ie supporters' club) to congregate before you are 'taken in'.

3. Booze is a no-no. Well, it's supposed to be. In reality you beer it up and before you get close you jetison all empty and full beers cans, bottles and everything else. Any trace of alcohol and they can turn you round and fine your ass.

Our worst trip was to Hereford away in the cup in the year after THE Hereford game. We were escorted into town and had a police helicopter follow us as we walked from the coach to a pub. A couple of our party got a pasting from local heavies as we tried to get to the ground. But it got worse on the way home when we stopped off in Newbury for beers. Again, blows were traded and the Brighton boys roamed the streets (both on foot and in the coach itself) looking for revenge.

Anyway - don't let this put you off. It's a great idea and something I would support. But you will need to take deposits because people are unreliable and change their minds. But keep it simple - pick up in Hove/Brighton, go up the 23 with a stop or two and keep it at that.

travelled on the scars and stripes coach to lincoln the season we were there on the last day.

cracking fun and i'd deffo be up for this if it were organised..

Quite possibly the worst away trip of my life. We were going in beachwear so Papa Lazarou and I had been out to buy sombreros, loud shirts and flower garlands (bizarre really, because I've not worn any of those to the beach before). I have a vague recollection I had the Friday afternoon off work and spent it in The Litten Tree (RIP) - that bit might not be right though.

What is correct though is that Papa and I were absolutely battered later on that night. For some reason we donned our sombreros and took to running around streets, hiding behind cars and blowing into the top of our beer bottles. Not sure why again, but think it was to make some sort of Western type sound effect.

The next morning I was in a terrible state but managed to get to the coach pick-up point which may or may not have been Worthing station. The start of the journey was not too bad, although the coach driver pulled over on some motorway or other and would not proceed until we stopped the beachball/inflatable fight. It was putting him off his driving or something.

From around this point the drunkenness faded away and the hangover really kicked in. Fortunately we had a coach with a toilet cubicle (essential, I think) and I spent most of the rest of the journey going to and from that, chucking my guts up.

All I could manage in the pub was a coke and I was probably sick another couple of times.

We nearly didn't get into the ground but they managed to find a small space for us (little shed thing opposite the main stand). There was a concrete area between this and the pitch, so we used this to dance in. By the end of the game I was almost dead, so passed on the coach and returned in someone's car, unconcious on the back seat.
