Probably gonna sound like a dick here, this isn't my opinion, this is just how i believe the American FA saw it...

It says in the article about how he challenged the fans to come down to his level, this could be seen as provoking them, being unprofessional, and basically not keeping in the spirit of the game. To be honest, 600 quid is nothing by his standards though, so I doubt he'll be losing sleep over it.

Could the mods set up an account to allow NSC members to donate a little something to help pay this excessive fine?

Ridiculous thing to fine somebody for. If I was Becks I would refuse to play until they withdraw the fine. That'll hit the MLS in the pocket.

I agree, and those saying it's only £600, you can't just put another zero on the end (as an example) because it's David Beckham. I assume if it was any other MLS player, it would have been £600.

whats the problem? its nominal, the reprimand is the important point. and why do we care what the US authorities do anyway?

That's the thing though. Why the f*** did he get reprimanded, he just did what every player should do and gave back what he was given.

Good on ya David, perhaps if more players did this fans wouldn't think it was OK to scream abuse at players.

Glad to see that the fan got a life time ban though.

I may be wrong, but I think that in some Scandinavian countries some fines are set in proportion to the offenders income. So for example, a speeding fine can be set at say 1% of your annual income, so someone on a large income will pay more in terms of actual cash than someone on a low income for the same offence.

I'd love to see us adopt that principle here, but I suppose we'd need a proper Socialist government for that to occur, so no chance then :(.

Isnt that already in place in this country for offences against the law of the land but for what Becks did the fine was imposed by the club for what they considered a breach of their rules or discipline.

What should he have got then? Prison!
Why do so many "football supporters" on here become so offended when a player steps out of line, that they demand the harshest penalty?

I think you're getting me wrong! I don't see the problem in the first place, to be honest.
