Please correct me if I'm wrong.
But I'm at a bit of a loose end tonight as the wife is out.

Taking it a bit easy as have to get up early tomorrow to get train to Bristol.

So did some maths on our away support this season.

After 13 away games this season we have been supported by 19292 fans
Which is an average of 1,484 per game.
With games at mk dons, brentford, colchester still to come plus final day of the season at notts county (7000) if the championship is up for grabs.

I'm sure that figure will rise before the end of the season.

A lot of championship sides would be proud of that kind of support.

The figure would be higher if you take in to account the games where the away following announced is actually a lot less than what was there - prime example being Peterborough - around 870 in the seats and the terrace was 3/4's full if not more. The terrace holds nearly 4,000, so although the attendance given was 2,519 everyone knows this is false. We already sold 3,000 tickets in pre-sale and then there's those who paid on the day.

I've just checked the Watford programme. Up until our Cup game with them, their average take-away crowd for away league games was 838.

It has to be said you are more likely to attend away matches when you are top of the league.
Also I think some Albion fans would rather attend away matches than go to withdean.

That being said our last 3 away games have been watched by 8500 which is great, keep it up

i don't buy into that,I was in the Peterborough terrace & it was not close to being full.

I don't think Watford is a fair comparison, they are just Packed Lunch fans, who turn up at away grounds with Graham Taylor Thermos flasks, Elton John sandwich boxes and ask for the Family Stand.

Which is an average of 1,484 per game.

The thing that is awesome about that is that this is equivalent to about 20% of our home gates.
I haven't actually got the calculator out, but it will work out that about one in five fans who watch home games, goes away.
Our pitiful home "stadium" is partly to blame, but statistically surely no other club can match this.

But if you actually take our away support as a percentage from our home support we are probably, by percentage, the best away supported club in the country. Somebody willing to do the maths? Compare us with say Arsenal, Man Utd, etc. My maths A level is many years old and totally rusty now!

Great effort from Plymouth and Exeter considering how far they have to travel to get anywhere.
