when we make an online transfer to my wife's Alliance and Leicester account to my Smile Co-op account and vice versa it credits debits straight away I mean almost instantly? This creates both good and bad scenarios!!

Their is a faster payment system that was introduced last year, if both banks sign up to it and you have the right account it normally transfers instantly to about 2 hours.

You need to ask what account you have are part of this service.

In Sweden and most european countries with sense ( in the banking world ) money is transfered automatically ... mainly because they dont have a debit card system for paying bills etc
