The Fergurson knighthood is far worse, he was a whiney, malicious spiteful little man BEFORE being knighted and has gone on to exceed at those traits since. I don't remember Brucie slagging off fellow professionals competence to perform in the same way as the red nosed whinger does with refs and linesmen ? Fergie got his Knghthood simply for his results and not for how he got them. Brucie has finally got his not so much for what he has done, but, for the way he has done it.

I don't feel too hurt by the notion of a famous fop being honoured by another famous fop. The heroes of the world are generally the unknown soldiers and not those that have their lives reported on or celebrated with trophies and sashes. Think he deserves it, but I've found all the nonsense about how light entertainment is undervalued and how he should have had it much earlier quite ridiculous.

a) a knighthood is not something you decide you deserve - wait until it is given to you
b) and most importantly, you didn't go into light entertainment to get a knighthood. Neither have the services you have provided to light entertainment not been made 'wprth your while' financially. A national treasure and all but a knighthood is an honour, not something you expect or deserve becaue of a bit of longevity.
