Argus:

The Seagulls are still refusing to give up on the talented midfielder despite having two bids turned rejected by their League One rivals. They are weighing up with going back with an improved bid or waiting till the summer when he will be out of contract.

Poyet 'From our point of view we wanted to keep everything quiet' 'We kept everything internal' 'Steve must have his reasons' 'Ryan is totally different to the ones we have got in the way he plays and understands the game and because he is out of contract in the summer we were hoping to get him early doors' 'The situation has changed, everything was going the right way, but now it has become public, which complicates things.'

Poyet also confirmed no bids have been received for any of his players following reports Inigo Calderon had been linked with Celtic.

Poyet said ' I am happily surprised that he haven't had a bid for anyone, lets hope January finishes very quickly'

Lets hope this stays the same and Jan goes nicely for us! Sounds like a sound investment if successful.

in gus we trust. if he thinks this guy is good and could make a difference then hopefully he'll sign for us before the end of january. i can't see anybody leaving, with the possible exception of calde if a decent offer arrives - he's played the majority of his career in the la liga so division 1 is well beneath his standards, truth be told.

Don't really know anything about him to be honest. But if Gus is willing to pay cash now rather than wait for a battle to sign him free in the summer he must be pretty useful

They know they'll have to cash in and are waiting till the final day to accept our offer if they don't receive more money from another team by going public.

Exactly right. They'll get a lot less than what we've offered ( I would have thought) if they don't sell him this month
