Anyone have recommendations for IT training companies please?

I'm thinking of doing Oracle training PL/SQL on 11g and also VB.NET 3.5/4.0.

I've used Global Knowledge and Learning Tree in the past. They're OK, but it never hurts to seek other oponions.

Haven't done much IT training in recent years but I did think Learning Tree were pretty good.

Learning Tree were pretty good from what I recall. I used another one too, just trying to think of the name. Over the years I've done, C++, OO, Sybase, Delphi and I think a couple of others.

There used to be one in North Road who ripped me off badly, they are not trading under the same name now (Microsoft confirmed this) and thus should be avoided.

learn on your own....there enough forums and code online.....why bother paying and travelling? do a smart enough app someone will employ you.

That's the other one I was trying to think of. Used them a few times, pretty good. I've only done London/City based courses though.

Depends on your requirements. If you're already in a job, and you're startign a project whihc requires a new skill, thhen they can be useful (if work's paying). My reservation I that, for example, if you're doing programming, the on a 5 day course, the first 2 days tend to be too basic, and the last 2 days tend to be too general and probably not targetting what you're actually going to be doing.

If you're not working and want to pay for it, well, it looks quite good on a CV, but they are quite expensive. If it just for your own purposes, then myself, I'd do as you say and learn by writing something and trawling the net.

This. We have used them for the last 6 years and never had a bad course - we've done mainly microsoft and VMWare courses, but I assume the Oracle courses will be just as good...

Thanks for the info. I'm a consultant, but a customer is willing to pay for a chunk of training for me. Been doing a lot of research in my own time, but as I'm so busy, it's very difficult to spend the time to get proficient and still do all the work I have to get done.


Also, for me, I fell that getting a good intro into a subject can be invaluable.
