Good analysis but not guilty m'lud I actually stuck in my alternative starting word on my 2nd go today which I do from time to time usually out of frustration.

That revealed the status of all but 1 vowel and many consonants plus some others by elimination after attempt 3.

@Papak Good tactic that I'll have a go at. I currently only do that if I get none on go 1.

I 100% go down that route if I come up dry at my first attempt but also selectively do it at other times too.

My downfall (I actually have many) is to get stuck on the consonants so what I really need is a starter word or 2 less vowel heavy I think.
