So it could be pretty much ANYONE outside the Premier League?

PLus, from the Prem;

Adie Boothroyd
Neil Warnock
Steve Coppell
Paul Jewell
Alan Pardew
Ian Dowie

Let us PRAY it is a manager who hasn't lost the plot in favour of letting everyone know what a football genius he is. Ferinstance, some (*ALWAYS UNSUCCESSFUL) managers want to put their stamp on things by putting out-and-out strikers in weird positions, taking off the best players when we aren't winning or keeping possession.

That last one couldn't manage a schoolkids side, and alienated the skilled players just to let everyone know who was boss! He stood dispassionately watching as we capitulated to average sides, and we usually couldn't hold on to any kinds of lead.

I'll have a punt on, whoever it is, they're appointed in time for the SKY cameras next Sunday.
Dick's never shy of a publicity stunt.

Hm, good call. That is of course assuming DW is not going to be appointed.

joe royle would be great

Unfortuantely he's only any good if he's got money to spend.

Whoever it is will be slated by NSC because ...

he's not experienced enough
he's too experienced
he's not managed at this level
he's only managed at this level
he's English
He's not English
His previous clubs version of NSC thinks he 's shit
He's not who NSC posters want.

and finally the most important reason.

He's perfect for the job but we are a bunch of whinging c**ts and so it doesn't make any difference, he'll be useless.

Oldham - squad in place and money behind them as they headed towards the premier
Everton - He had money and again inhereted a good squad
Man City - not a great deal of money for premiership side ... but as they were in div 2 it was loads.
Ipswich - Given a big budget, however when relegated money run out ... so did royle.

Guy I work with is an Evertonian and he likes Royle but he doesn't rate him as a manager.

You're definitely wrong on the Ipswich one - you're thinking of George Burley. He was in charge when they got relegated, Royle took over when they were in administration, spent virtually no money (I believe the purchase of Darren Currie was the first time he paid a fee), he put that team together on a shoestring, with a lot of youngsters, and got them into the playoffs playing good football.

I'd love to have him here.
