If so can someone please tell me before I go and order one this afternoon.

Requirements for comparison.

Must be new as I do not want any unforseen maintainance costs

Must seat 4 (although I appreciate not necessarily for a long period of time)

Must have a half decent boot so no cabriolets

Prefably Diesel as I'd like to get my current MPG from 26 to over 40

Diesels cost more.
Diesel costs more.
Diesels cost more to maintain.
Diesels cost more to tax.
Choose petrol.

I agree.

Unless your annual mileage is going to be over 25,000 per year you will actually not save any money going diesel.

However, the comparative CO2 level for diesel is lower, thus they are usually taxed less.

The JTDm engine is one of if not the best diesel engine on the market and is nothing like the old diesels most people are used to. Alfa's reliability is through the roof in the past few years; but the dealer network is still a bit iffy unfortunately.

But you're perfectly happy to take the massive depreciation that an Alfa has?

What's wrong with buying a 4 year old Mondeo or something for about 5k ?

No, I'm getting this on a contract hire so in 3 years i will give it back owning and owing absolutely zilch. However I won't have spent £200 per month on a car loan that all gets lost in depreciation on a 6 year old Saab Convertible, I won't have to Tax or MOT the car in that time, and I pay nothing other than 2 services and probably 4 tyres in 3 years. It'll probably cost me less than i spend at the moment!

If you get the car pictured for £250 +VAT per month.. I'd be amazed for one. It's gotta be the base model that you'd actually get hasn't it???

..or else I'd be VERY interested myself!

Alfa GT Cloverleaf

You'd best get over to your nearest Alfa Dealer VERY QUICKLY mate because its a limited edition model that is about to finish.

It comes in 4 engine models (2 petrol, 2 diesel) and STANDARD on all is:

18" alloys, leather seats, MP3 head unit with 8 BOSE speakers and built in Subwoofer, Foglights and rear parking sensors as well as all the boring safety bits like ABS and Air Bags obviously

Ordering mine tomorrow! :)
