I've not read a book for a little while.
I was given Nick Hornby's latest, but for reasons unknown, I never got past the 1st page.

I'm waiting for Call of the Weird, by Louis Theroux, and assuming that gets me back in the habit of reading, what else should I look out for.

Haunted - Chuck Palanhiuk

I'm a big fan of Chuck and had read everything he had ever written but gave up after Lullaby. Is it a return to form?

Well I quite liked Lullaby.

Survivor was brilliant I thought, and haunted is well worth a read.

As I'm a Michael Moore fan, I take it I'll enjoy this one, any more info Clapham.

As Chuck P is strongly mentioned, what can I expect from him?, is there 1 I should go for 1st?

Agreed. I actually liked Survivor more than Fight Club.

I read Non Fiction. That was excellent. You should give that a go if you haven't already.

The consensus seems to be Survivor!

"Cloud Atlas" by David Mitchell. Or his first book, "Ghostwritten", an astonishing book, one of my favourites, which is saying something considering I read at least a book a week and have done for the last 10 years - thanks to the Haywards Heath to Clapham Junction and back again daily run.

From an online review...
Don't expect a plot analysis here, or even a long, comprehensive review. This book is too good to degrade by giving away too much plot information. Just buy the book, read it (it's short) and enjoy. Trust me.

The idea of hijacking and then crashing a plane isn't exactly looked upon lightly these days. After the tragedies, it's really no wonder either. Unfortunately Chuck Palahniuk's Survivor was written many years before 9/11. The whole idea of a Survivor movie has been scrapped. People don't want to see a terrorist as a main character in a film.

But that's just the thing. Tender Branson, really isn't a terrorist in the traditional sense. Instead of terrorizing through guns, bombs and threats, he does so with a smile and a finely tuned wink. He's a religious leader, pitchman and fitness expert all rolled into one increasingly strange package.

You'll read about the rise and fall of a strange little Amish-man who likes to run a fake suicide hotline for fun. You'll ponder the existence of the pornography landfill and the treasures within.

More than anything, Survivor looks upon celebrity with a very wary eye. Is it possible to be loved and adored and still maintain some semblance of sanity? Clearly, to Chuck, the answer is no.
