How long have u had it for?

I had a strange experience once when I was hit in the face with a football and got concussion, everything below centre of my sight was glowing lluminous yellow.

Assuming its not concussion, you can sometimes get floaty lights, (are they small dots?) if you stand up too quickly causing sudden low blood pressure. It could be that you have low blood pressure too.

I have white spots in my eyes constantly... makes vision a little snowy (like a bad TV reception), especially looking at the sky or in the dark. One of those things I guess.

To me, your symptoms sound more like a migraine. Migraines take different forms... can be headaches, but can also be flashes in the eye - I get them too

Don't want to worry you unnecessarily but I have been advised (because one of my eyes has a thin cornea) that these symptoms could indicate a detached retina.Recommendation is pdq visit to casualty as the sooner these are dealt with the easier it is

They are more like flashing staggered lines. Never had a headache really let alone a migraine. (Hangover exc. of course)

A detatched retina would affect your eyesight though as well wouldn't it. I am thinking of going up now but it has stopped for 20 mins now

I get this occassionaly and have read (somewhere?) that it may be something called 'Visual Migraine'. Similar to the visual disturbance some people get before a migraine but without suffering the actual migraine. Mine dissappears after about 20 mins and starts as a small 'shimmering' light in the centre of vision which then extends to become a semi-circle of 'shimmering' lights which slowly moves out of sight to the left or right.

PaulMB gave a Yahoo answer about seeing zigzag lines, have a read of this, see if it sounds similar:

Question:

Eye sight.......seeing flashing zig zags!?
sometimes i see strobe-like flashing zig zags. it is a long line of zig zags. when it happens that is all i can really see. it's like i have a blind spot or something in my eye. i last for about 30mins. or so. i have one really bad eye and one good eye. (vision wise) the flashing lights always happen in my good eye. if anyone know what is causing this please help. i haven't had the time to go to the eye doctor.

btw, it only happens every now and then. thanks

Best Answer:

The zigzag lines things usually are on one side. Actually there ALWAYS on one side, not one eye. That's because it's a brain thing, an Ophthalmic Migraine or Optical Migraine. There doesn't have to be pain or headaches.

There's a wave of depolarization of the cortex in the occipital part of the brain, at the back part of the brain. It slowly moves across the surface till it runs out of room. Usually takes 20-30 minutes and is associated with not being able to see in the center of the zigzag arc. Some are colored zigs and others are black and white ones.

They are not associated with any significant diseases such as tumors or aneurysms, or strokes or.... they are benign.

If you take something with caffeine in it, it'll last about 20 minutes. If you take Tylenol or Aspirin or Excedrin, or Elephant juice or green tea or brown tea or red tea or pickles or vitamins or eat tree bark...they'll last about 20 minutes.

Just enjoy them. You can sort of track the arc across the page. Put a dot in the center and draw the arc. A few minutes later look at the dot and redraw the arc... it'll march right across the page. If it starts in the center, you may not understand why you're having this much trouble reading. Then you'll see the little flicker and you'll know it's just another migraine.

There are other sensory migraines too such as auditory where one hears a sound like a diesel engine that no one else hears, or Olfactory ones where you smell something like a burning tire and no one else does... No you're not nuts, just another sensory migraine.

I have had Migraine regularly since I was 12 years old. Would say this sounds like an attack. Do not confuse headaches with Migraine.

Crap Town
could be high blood pressure?

I had those flashing staggered lines sometimes along with a splitting headache and neck tension about 5 years ago. GP diagnosed it straight away as stage 2 hypertension and said I was probably suffering from high blood pressure for a number of years which my body had adjusted to but getting older meant triggering a warning that my body was no longer able to cope. I was put on medication immediately to lower the blood pressure to a more manageable level and have 6 monthly reviews and annual blood test for chloresterol etc. In hindsight having high blood pressure (and getting totally stressed out at times) plus moving to Crap Town to stay in a job may have been a contributory factor in having a nervous breakdown in 1994.

This must be the cause......it is Vicente's fault. Get some sleep, and when you wake he will be an Albion player. Gotta stop now because i actually do feel like shit now
